Renewing Certified Process Servers
If you are applying to renew a process server certification with the JBCC, please refer to the “Watch How to Apply for Renewal” slideshow in the Online System Resources section posted on the homepage of the JBCC website. That resource will walk you step-by-step/page-by-page through the renewal application process, including how to track your application’s progress online.
Your certification (it is not a ‘license’) is valid for 2-years from the month it was issued. All certifications are valid until the last day of the month.
Texas Process Servers Academy presently offers three approved courses, 2 of which are specifically for renewing Certified Process Servers:
* 8-hour course entitled "Statutes, Rules and Ethics", which includes a 6-hour review of all laws, rules, and regulations effective up to January 1, 2024. The course also includes 2hrs of Ethics that are now required pursuant to Supreme Court of Texas Misc. Docket No. < >.
* 2-hour "Ethics" course, separate from the 2-hr component included in the previous 8-hr course. This Course on Ethics is designed to help Certified Process Servers understand the Code of Conduct we are each expected to follow.
Our 8-hour course is the most comprehensive, informative, and detailed course in Texas, introduced with an historical look back 6,000 years to follow the evolution of 'process service' as we now know it today. We then review each statute, rule, and regulation in detail, explain their application to professional process servers today, and provide footnotes with case law and legal decisions.
Each course includes a Certificate of Proficiency you can download immediately after passing the Final Exam. If you need help as you take the course, you can call 682-404-8932, or send an email to Administrator@Texas-psa.com.
The 8-hr continuing ed course goes into detail on the rules that govern service of process in Texas civil courts, and how to serve process...
